Walt Blackman is a combat veteran, public servant, and policy leader dedicated to advancing practical, results-driven solutions that strengthen communities and improve government accountability. As Founder and Chairman of the American Veterans Policy Institute (AVPI), he leads a mission-focused organization committed to delivering data-driven public policy rooted in real-world experience and measurable outcomes.
A recipient of the Bronze Star for his service in the United States Army, Walt served honorably in combat operations, where he developed a leadership style grounded in discipline, accountability, and mission-first execution. His military experience continues to shape his approach to public policy—focused on action, not theory.
Walt currently serves as an Arizona State Representative, where he has built a reputation for championing public safety, government oversight, and policies that support veterans, rural communities, and working families. As Chairman of the House Government Committee, he has led critical oversight efforts addressing systemic failures, transparency, and accountability within state agencies.
In addition to his legislative work, Walt is the host of The Walt Blackman Show, where he engages with leaders and constituents on issues impacting Arizona and the nation. He is also the founder of WB Consults, a firm focused on strategic leadership and organizational problem-solving.
